How to Flash ?

You should have Mi Redmi 1S (HM1S) with Miui 5 and Stock Recovery for upgrade from older version.

for fresh install any recovery.

if you don't want to change recovery try this How to temporary Boot into any Recovery

Steps 

1. Download latest MIUI 6 from given below link

2. Move Zip to Internal Storage.

3. Change Zip name to update.zip (Case Sensitive)

4. Go to updater app select zip and flash or boot into recovery and select English language and choose intall update
