Don't worry i had the same problem but i got solution with the experiment what we are going to do is boot into twrp recovery temporarily so that you still get miui recovery after update.

What we Need :
1. PC and Redmi 1s Drivers
Redmi1s usb drivers [skip if already have]
ADB Drivers
2. TWRP Recovery Download

Now follow this : 
1. Install Drivers and Download TWRP Recovery
2. After Download follow this guide How to Temporary Boot in to TWRP Recovery in Redmi 1s
3. After you successfully booted in twrp recovery by following the guide
4 Select install and select the zip [you know were it is]

Hint search for downloaded_rom folder in internal memory

Go to advanced option
Select fix permission
